The County of San Mateo Department of Housing is pleased to announce as of 7/13/18 a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for $19,879,719 in Measure K Funds, other County and HACSM Funds, and reprogrammed HUD funds previously allocated to DOH.  This NOFA is posted on the Department of Housing’s website, under the “NOFAs, Bids & Proposals” tab.

This NOFA, which is Round 6 of the County’s Affordable Housing Fund (“AHF 6.0”), is targeted to three types of projects: New Construction Multifamily Affordable Rental Housing projects, Multifamily Re-Syndication-Rehabilitation projects for existing deed-restricted multifamily affordable rental housing developments, and Multifamily New Construction Affordable First-Time Homeownership projects.  A portion of the funds provided under this NOFA are targeted specifically to assist with creating units serving former foster youth. Note:  APPLICATIONS WILL BE SUBMITTED ONLINE THROUGH THE CITY DATA SERVICES (CDS) WEBSITE.  Instructions for submitting the Application are in the “AHF 6.0 NOFA Overview & Funding Requirements” document posted below.  For ease of reference, a PDF copy of the Application is also posted below.  

The NOFA erroneously noted the application due date as Thursday, August 10th, 2017 at 4pm.  The due date is FRIDAY, August 10th, 2018 at 4pm.  Please disregard any further references to Thursday, August 10th, 2017.

DOH held a Technical Assistance Session for potential Applicants on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Department of Housing offices located at 264 Harbor Blvd., Bldg. A in Belmont. 

Pre-Application Meeting.  Prior to submitting an application under AHF 6.0, Applicants must meet with DOH staff to introduce and discuss the project, its fit with County affordable housing goals, any possible challenges, any projected need for County subsidy, and other topics as necessary.  For this AHF 6.0 NOFA, any meetings that cannot be scheduled in person prior to the NOFA submission deadline can be held over the phone.  Please contact Ray Hodges (rhodges@smchousing.org) if you expect to submit a funding application under AHF 6.0 but have not yet introduced the project to DOH staff.
