The County of San Mateo Department of Housing (DOH) is pleased to announce a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for a new Affordable Rental Acquisition and Preservation Program (ARAPP), a special sub-fund within the County's Affordable Housing Fund (AHF).  The County Board of Supervisors has authorized $10 million in Measure "A" funding to launch ARAPP.

The goal of ARAPP is to acquire and preserve the affordability of existing multifamily buildings rented at below-market rates, not currently subject to rent restrictions, in San Mateo County.  For further details, download the NOFA in its entirety at the link below.

Applications for this NOFA will be reviewed on a rolling, "over-the-counter" basis until all ARAPP funds have been committed.  At that time, the ARAPP web portal will be updated to note that no additional applications will be accepted.  Please see the NOFA for details regarding this process.

Applications must be initiated through a discussion of project eligibility with the DOH Housing and Community Development (HCD) team as described in the NOFA posted below.  Please e-mail to schedule an initial conversation.

Questions regarding the ARAPP and ARAPP NOFA should be sent to  DOH will respond to individual questions and will periodically post questions and responses on this webpage.
